There are many statues and memorials of Captain Cook- quite a few within striking
distance of my home in Seattle.
I've got some pictures of
Resolution Park in Anchorage, and soon I'll get up to
Victoria to cover that angle.
My sister and her husband took their honeymoon in Hawaii. At left
is a statue of Cook they found on Kauai at Hofgaard Park in the
little town of Waimea. They took some photos for me since they
know I'm a Cook nut.
This angle was specially chosen by my sister to display Cook's ears.
My sister named this photo "I didn't know he was a nurse"-
the "R.N." is for Royal Navy of course!
On the back are these plates, commemorating Cook's landfall in
Waimea.
I know there is another monument on Hawaii, at Kealakekua Bay, but I
haven't been there yet.
